Our profile
TU Dortmund University comprises 17 departments in the natural and engineering sciences as well as the
humanities and social sciences and is a dynamic university with a strong profile in research, teaching, the
promotion of young scientists and transfer.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the strongest in research in Germany. Research
projects at the Department of Mechanical Engineering are funded by the DFG, the BMFTR, and the EU,
amongst others. Currently, the Department has spokesmen for and coordinates several collaborative DFG
projects.

Profile of the professorship
You conduct research related to resource efficiency, complementing the Department’s profile in
“Production Technology and Logistics and their Digitalization”, and further develop your research profile
with (inter)national visibility. In doing so, you participate in research networks and cooperations within
and outside TU Dortmund University and are committed to promoting early career researchers. You
participate appropriately in the teaching activities of the department.

Your qualifications
You have obtained a doctorate with above-average success and have acquired a post-doctoral lecture
qualification (Habilitation) or an equivalent qualification. You have demonstrated your research excellence
in the field covered by the professorship through continuous international publications in recognized peer-
reviewed journals and have experience in acquiring third-party funding. Additionally, you will have the
potential for excellency in teaching. Social and leadership skills, combined with a high sensibility for
diversity and gender aspects, as well the willingness to participate in academic self-administration will
complete your profile. Moreover, the recruitment requirements in Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine-
Westphalia Higher Education Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, HG)
apply.
